2012 ITALIAN GP (Pre-Qualifying)

Hey whats up guys, its another great weekend, you know why? It's time for MONZA!!!! Anyway this is a pre-qualifying post, enjoy.

After a shocking start to the second half of the season at Belgium last week, what can we expect from the ultra-fast Autodromo Nazionale Monza, home race of the world known Scuderia Ferrari F1 Team, as such, it's huge fanbase is expecting Fernando Alonso, the current championship leader to pull of a victory in an under-performing car, how he shall fare is up to debate.

Alonso was unable to show his car's upgades at Spa-Francorchamps following a major crash at the first corner during the first lap. Lotus' Romain Grosjean was the one to blame, he moved to the left of the straight, hitting the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton, Launching the Lotus, causing it to narrowly miss Alonso's head and also hits Sauber's Sergio Perez after a superb qualifying.

Grosjean is therefore banned from the Italian GP, filling in is a familiar face, if you have been following up on F1, can you guess who? Its Jerome d'Ambrosio.

Ok enough with Spa, time for Monza. As I am writing this, FP1 and 2 have been completed, The two McLarens and the two Ferraris take the top 4 places in a close FP2 session, personal predictions for the top ten qualifying are as follows

1. Jenson Button (McLaren)
2. Lewis Hamilton (Mclaren)
3. Fernando Alonso (Ferrari)
4. Felipe Massa (Ferrari)
5. Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus Racing)
6.Michael Schumacher (Mercedes GP)
7. Jerome d'Ambrosio (Lotus Racing)
8. Paul di Resta (Force India)
9. Sergio Perez (Sauber)
10. Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing)

Yep, d'Ambrosio is, in my opinion, going to be in the top ten as the Lotus car is a very driveable car (at least in F1 standards). Fernendo and Felipe are going to get excellent results too. However, it will be a close qualifier (top ten covered in less than a sec.), it will be a bad day at the office for defending world champion Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull team.

With that settled, now lets talk speculation, going into the Italian GP, it is roumored that McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton might move to Mercedes, replacing Michael Shumacher, who will be retiring at the end of the season (doubters however, believe that he actually was told by Ross Brawn to leave the team due to his underwhelming performance). Shumacher had failed to complete many Grand Prixs this season, either to mechanical problems or a lack of pace to finish in the points.

Ferrari's Felipe Massa's carrer is also on the line, rumors are circulating that Ferrari are letting him go. Ferrari are denying them. Personally, I do not think Ferrari will let him go, he is showing rapid improvement in driving skills and may begin to pressure other front runners soon.

Thats about it for this short pre-qualifying post, I'll be back tomorrow with a post-qualifying review.
